Hi guys, i have a problem. I changed my tranny fluid this morning to honda mtf, and when i was draining the oil from my oil container to bottles i noticed plastic shavings in my filter screen of my funnel.

What is this from? i was using vavoline 5/30 for 3 months because i didnt have mtf around. I dont drive my car hard, all help would be appreciated thanks

 

are they grey in color? could be Hondabond ... and are you sure they are plastic, did you try a magnet?

 

yeah they are grey in color, and plastic.
i felt them and they are not hard, and dont keep their shape when i bend them they flex.

i have never had my tranny opened.

Does your tranny feel ok?
I suggest a few flushes to get all the loose parts out.

 

It 'might' be pieces from the 'friction dampners' on the main (or intermediete) shaft.

when i flush the tranny out should i do it with mtf fluid? or can i do it with regular 5/30 motor oil?

 

I do/would use MTF.
