Will the factory LSD from B16-A1 cable tranny hold up to 230-240 @wheels or upgrade to QUAIFE LSD???

 

if you already have one, keep it until it breaks (if it ever does)!

 

quaife is much more supreme to the stock (y1 or YS1) LSDs, which is pretty much worthless, once you put out a little more then 200whp...I say upgrade...

I think it would be a good idea to swap out the OEM LSD for the QUAIFE unit.

 

it should be fine but any lsd can break...met a guy who shattered quiafe

How much hp and tq was he putting out?
My friend had a corrado vr6 with a supercharger that made
254-hp & 248-tq @ wheels and we would always launch that bitch hard and it had no problems.

 

about 400 at the wheels with stock internals and a inlinepro headgasket

Well, thru my research here on Honda-tech, I hear that the stock ITR LSD fails occasionally only when one of the front tires is unloaded and then massive torque is put on it suddenly when it finally touches down.

Since I didn't have money for a Quaife AND I won't be boosting crazy hard in and out of turns, I finally decided on a JDM ITR LSD for my LS.

I will let you know how things turn out this week.

yeah, my car launches whip-lash style when i want it to... keeps my passengers awake...

 

the good thing about the quaife is, it comes with a lifetime warranty even if the unit has been abused through racing.

 

quafie's are well worth every penny!

 

Uh, I'm going to have to disagree with you on that one.......

I have a Y1 LSD in my LS tranny, and at 15lbs of boost pushing well over 300HP, it held up just fine. In fact, it still works perfectly.

ha ha ha ha ha...Well i guess i'll see how long the OEM LSD can handle and if it don't! Then QUAIFE is the answer.
