Default Crower stage 2 cams breaking

I am currently in the build proccess and am looking for a good cam for my H23 with type s pistons. The car is going to be a daily driver, I'm looking at the Crower Stage 2's, but have heard of them breaking. My question is what is the likely hood of me breaking a cam? I'm open to comments cam suggestions or whatever. Thanks.

had them in my lude, drove everyday to work & school and never had a problem with them... as long as they're installed correctly they should be fine..

Flyrod has run H22A stage 2's since 2001 and has 20,000 miles on his stage 2's, I run stage 3 H23A1 cams and have had no problems for the last 5000+ miles. You'll be fine if you install them right.

apparently the previous batch of crower 2's used a weaker core that was prone to snapping. the new design uses a stronger core that should be more resistant to snapping.

I've had mine for 3 years, wouldn't have it any other way. Your better off with crower 2's than type s for sure.

type-s pistons
crower 2's
hondata
aem pullies
cai
plus dyno tuning
440 dsm injectors
225 lph holly pump

I've actually run a bit faster after that, 13.6 @ 101 however my racing years are over now I just enjoy it on the streets. Keep in mind I ran these times on 15" slicks.

I believe that I have stock injectors and I was running way rich before tuning (with VAFC). Would 440's really help me?

Quick mod list:
Walbro Intake 255LPH Fuel Pump
Crower Spring & Retainer Kit
P&P & 5 angle valve job
B&M Fuel Pressure Gauge
Crower custom (soft) Stage 2 Cams
USDM Pistons (10:1)
DC Sports Header
AEM Fuel Rail
AEM Cam Gears
MSD Ignition
Crower Rods
AEM FPR
VAFC
CAI

Also, is that really your complete mod list? Nice times!

Also i was wondering if it is really neccasary (sp) to get the whole crower valve train to use the stage 2s, Ive also been doing a lot of reading and am wondering if I can really use type s pistons in my h23? If not which pistons to use.

you should be fine with your stock injectors, in retrospect I shoulda just kept mine. Try it out see if it runs lean? My mechanic did this 3 years ago so I don't really remember... but i think in the end it was probably unnessesary to go to 440's.

My cams haven't had any issues w/ breaking.

And if I have stock injectors, I know that they flow enough because before tuning the vafc, it was way rich.

I would since they say you need to. I'd hate to bust up the engine...

But I'm not sure if anyone has ever tried w/o the valve train...

Ran Crowers in a B18B and a B16A, no problems... it's all about proper installation.

Did you use upgraded valve train components though? That's what he's asking, if he doesn't use them, will he have problems.

And props to Pullig for 14.6 w/ H23 and basic boltons! Sure you don't have nitrous on there? j/k

The B16A used a full Crower valvetrain..

B18b is non vtec, right? So no high revving (like maybe 7k at the most?)? I'd bet you'd want to have an upgraded valvetrain in a high revving vtec head.

I haven't bought or used the cams yet I was just asking for opinions. I'm going to just buy the cams and valvetrain, save myself some grief.

This motor was fully built, turbo, and I could take it to 8K (didnt make power that high, but was still possible), and never had problems with the valvetrain.
