fuel on the ground around car !!!
i drove to my friends house this morning, and when i came out a few hours later, i noticed a gas stain on the ground under the car (near the gas door). all around the car it smelled like gas. i looked for leaks/puddling by the fuel lines in the engine bay, but didnt see any.
my guess is that for some reason, fuel was pushed back up OUT of my gas tank through the fill spout, and out of the gas cap, where it proceeded to drip down the side of the car onto the ground...
what could cause this?
some background info:
1. the car is an 89 dx hatch with d16z6, everything obd1.
2. right now, the car is running an LS map on the ecu and not a p28 map (dont ask). 3. also, the car never stops priming. i turn the key and the system primes and the CEL turns off and the main relay clicks and the fuel keeps on flowing into the fuel rail (i can hear and feel it in the lines).
4. the main relay is good,(swapped out a working unit and it still did the same thing) so its not that.
my guess is that the priming issue was related to the gas on the ground issue.
but what could cause either thing to happen?
TIA, i need to info so i can fix this and drive my car home!

i filled it up the day before, so the tank was almost full. it wasnt THAT cold, but not super hot. afterwards it WAS in the sun for a bit...maybe that could be it. any other ideas?

i think you better find the problem with your car priming 27/7 before its too late for you or the car. check for lose grounds under your dash around the main relay. if you can check the psi of the fuel lines. do you have aftermarket fuel pump or itr/gsr? last time i checked a fuel line pressure it came up 37 @ idle and 41 when i rev'd it. ( but on ls/vtec race car)

everything in my fuel system is stock....stock ef fuel pump, old fuel filter (i have a new one ready to be put in), stock z6 fuel rail, injectors, and fpr.
