some risk statistics?
Does anyone have a good complilation of the accident/fatality statistics? Specifically, im looking for some percentages. Like the chance of you dying on a motorcycle are less then xxxxxxxx or greater then xxxxxxxxxxx. Something like that.
From the research ive done, based on 2003, with 5.5 million motorcycles being on the road and 3600 fatalities:
Assuming no one was riding a friends bike, and the actual bike owners were the victims that means a pretty crappy statistic 1:1500
Factor in another stat, that 92 percent of accident victims recived no training (MSF course) that would put someone like me (who has taken the course) at a more manageable 1:150,000 risk of dying.
I should probably factor in the helmet vs. no helmet percentage of the fatalities, but havent located those. Assuming 50 percent of those fatalities were not wearing helmets, a gear-wearer like me would have a 1:300,000 chance of dying.
Just some feeble number crunching i did. Anyone have anything better?

I believe the only real survey/report done within any recent time with concrete statistical data was the Hurt Report.
Some states publish their accident information. I believe you can compare the results of states with no helmet laws versus those that require helmets. But you can probably already predict the results for that...
