Lookin to swap engines in my ride have been workin on cars for 16 years including ground up restores of muscle cars as well as engine swaps on earlier hondas but now im into a newer honda , lol , and have no idea what would be the choice for me to go. Have been told a K20A2 would be the way to go (rsxtypes) , or to go a step further if i can get my hands on one would be a K20A. Just wonderin if anyones done any , or has any insight really would be much appreciated thanks guys

yea me too wheres pacman i need some help trying to do the k20 swap into a crx like his...i was thinking b-series cuz i can do that my self...but thought k-series is the way to go now...
it's pricey! wait a while for the prices to go down..if you wanna do anything to your d17, crower is starting to make cams, rods, etc. for our engines...then boost it..

was lookin at crowers prices and your better off swappin. by the time you recammed your engine and boosted it , it would be about same price. From what i read if you wanna put a K20 in a civic you need the whole front subframe off an rsx. The pully systems are on opposite sides of the car which is scary right off the get. Most sites recommend a donor car and when your talkin cars that are only a couple years old well need i say more.lol
PS . what im lookin for is DOHC , any DOHC heads compatible with a D17?

Hey,
I was one of the first guys to do this in an EM2. At that time it was an involved swap for sure! Lots of guessing, and fab work had to be done to get things right. But since then, there have been many improvements, and more parts made to make the swap very simple.
I would HIGHLY recommend going to 7thgencivic.com and going to their swap/FI section. There is a guy by the name of Hawk that did a write up on this swap. You will see me chime in there as well.
Then once you are all read up, goto HASport and see all the parts available for this swap. I believe they even have a conversion harness now for the swap. That alone took me 2 weeks to do just comparing Helms Manuals.
Yea, you need a complete front drop from an RSX. Subframe, motor, ECU, Harness, header, downpipe, and all the other misc. hoses and wires. You also need a radiator from and RSX or 02+ Civic Si plus fans. Its not a cheap swap, but SO much fun!!! Its funny seeing the tach needle dive way into the red all the way up to 8000rpm.
Shoot me an IM or just write back here if you have any questions. I dont go on the 7thgencivic.com site much anymore since I dont have that car anymore.
To answer your question about the D17 and a DOHC headswap...no such thing exists.
