i need your help guys
newbie? yesterday i went to drive a stick i never driven before the dealer told to release the clucth before i give it gas. i mean shifting wise not first gear. my? is when i shift to second do i release the clutch to the engagement point and then give it gas? the reason i'm asking this is because my shifts were jerky.
i give it at least a little gas right before i start releasing the clutch to match the rpms, it makes the shifts much smoother, for example when changing from 1st to 2nd keep yr foot on the gas, just a little and when u release clutch about 75% start giving it more gas, u'll get perfectly smooth shifts, just like an automatic
the thing dealer told sounds kinda dumb, but then i've been driving stick only for about 5 months

While upshifting you do have to release the clutch before giving it gas. If you don't you will have jerky shifts. My sister had a similar problem with her shifting. It turned out that it took her so long to shift, that the rpms dropped alot. So basically, shift quickly and let your foot off of the clutch before you hit the gas.
