Default tubing thickness

hey i was wanting to build my own cage. Im a pretty good welder and have acces to a bender i was just wondering what size tubing i should use? the outside diameter and teh wall thickness. Thanks for any help that you can give me

Depends on what you want to build it out of, and what you want it to pass cert. in. My personal experiences, being only drag racing, if you go with mild steel, the main bars need to 1 5/8 O.D., with a .134 wall thickness. This is just for the main bars...some of the smaller "support" pieces can be smaller. Best thing to do wouold be to get a rulebook for the association you are looking at competing in.
