SWAPPED TO A VTEC NOW AT 5000 RPM IT FALLS ON ITS FACE.
I HAD AN F22 WITH A SHAVED HEAD AND MILD PORTING, RAN GREAT BUT IT NEEDED TO BE RERINGED. SO RATHER THAN MESS WITH IT, I DECIDED TO GO WITH A LOW MILEAGE SOHC VTEC MOTOR FROM JAPAN. I USED MY WIRING HARNESS, THROTTLE BODY, AND DISTRIBUTOR. I HAVE THE VTEC COMPUTER, BUT IT IS NOT PLUGGED IN YET. I WAS TOLD BY MANY PEOPLE THAT THE MOTOR SHOULD RUN JUST LIKE A NON-VTEC MOTOR WITHOUT THE COMPUTER. AS I SAID AT ABOUT 5000 RPMS IT JUST FALLS ON ITS FACE(BEGINS TO BOG OUT BADLEY). I'VE ALSO INSTALLED T3/T4 TURBO FROM FMAX, WHEN I HAVE THE CHARGE PIPE INSTALLED I CAN GET 5500 OUT IT. NOT TO WORRY, I'M NOT RUNNING THE TURBO OR THE MF2 FUEL CONTROLLER UNTILL I GET THIS RESOLVED. I RAN IT WITH THE CHARGE PIPE AND MF2 FOR A LITTLE BIT THINKING IT WAS TURBO LAG. I KNOW THIS IS A LITTLE ADVANCED FOR SOME BUT ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED. THANK YOU.
guys, if you can't actually post something useful, dont just yell at him to turn caps off
does it cut off, and drop revs, or does it bog down like its not getting enough fuel?
are all the oil lines routed properly (assuming the turbo is hooked up)....rmember as soon as the stock ECU reads positive intake pressure itll go into limp

what kind of fuel management are u running?
any? you need one if going to run vtec head w/higher flow capabilities, otherwise like stated above your computer WILL go in limp mode...it is 4 a precautinary reasons...you need more fuel intake to accomodate the added air...do you hear any detonation, even for short periods of time? i know on our 6th gen models, the computer would retard timing as soon as it senses detonation, making it run "laggy" of the start...also something as simple as overfilling the engine with oil would cause you to rev this low
