CRX Electrical
This is really weird. I have an "88 CRX 1.5 with A/C. Out of the blue this is what started happening. The fan blower located beneath the evaporator unit on the interior passenger side has stopped operating. The fuse is good. I have looked at all the wiring in the dash because... if the stereo is on, when I turn the blower position passed 2 it removes power to the stereo!! The radio will continue to operate if I unplug the power ro the blower at the blower itself. This may be a simple solution to someone. Please advise. Thx
is the factory stereo plug still intact?
IM or PM me if you wish---we had a similar problem with my buddy's '87 teg

I was looking at the wiring diagram in the maintenance manual... and there appears to be a common wire between the radio and the blower. I was thinking if the blower has gone bad, when turned on perhaps it is grounding-out the source to the radio? I cannot get the blower to come on at all (switch ON, Acc, or running).
both wires are white and blue for power
the blower is a high-current accessory--have you checked the fuse box for burnout?
check the blower-as you are thinking-for dead shorts.
man--stereo installations and battery movers seem to have caused most of the electrical woes that we have seen!
we solved the problem in the 'teg by changing the fuse block; it had a burnt spot (which created a poor connection). afterwards the stereo and blower worked fine together

my car did this, it was the ignition switch.
heres the how-to i did

sometimes the contacts are so worn a rebuild doesn't help, though.

yes. the blower began drawing too much current through a bad connection in the fuse block...the stereo didnot have but 8 volts on it while the blower was set to II or above. when the blower was off, the [stock] stereo worked fine. power amps and other auxilliary stereo equipment cannot run from this power tap.
