CV problems
i was in the process of replacing the passenger side CV halfshaft on my 89 rex and i ran into a snag.. i got the old 1 out and started 2 put the new 1 in but it wont go in all the way nor come back out... why is this?
there are different CV axles for the same model civics/crx. they are slightly different in length and have a different number of spline teeth on the ends of the shafts. you should see some colored stripes of the shaft to denote the correct one for your car. hope this helps.
Humm, well, if its not all the way in you should be able to use a pry bar to GENTLY pry it out. Check to make sure the splines are clean and straight, it should slid in fairly easily and the C clip will hold it in place. Be sure to check the condition of the C clip, its not uncommon for rebuilt axles to come with used, tired C clips.
