Who is the driver in the yellowbird video?
You haven't seen that video Will? It's da bomb-diggity, as the kids would say. 14 minutes of Ruf Yellowbird (i.e. the R&T Top Speed Test winning 211mph modified Porsche 911 Turbo) drifting around the Nurburgring in '87 or so.
Last place I saw the video online was http://www.taner.net but I don't have time to find it now.
Jon
who thought he would sneak that in

I saw it about a year ago...
I was just saying who = ? to indicate that I did not know.
But added the "crazy" part to indicate my view of the driver.
Will
-who had someone tell him... "that fella can't drive".. WTF?

His nickname is "Sideways Stephan". Dunno his last name though. That boy can drive!
Oh yeah, forgot to say that even with his drifting antics, he set a pretty stinkin fast time around the ring on that run.

OMG. I am in shock. That is amazing. What are his closing speeds? Something close to 120 easy. Don't try that at home...
Geez.
Geez.
His seating and hand positions are somewhat unorthodox - but he does get around the course very quickly. I love the 100 mph+ buzz past the motorcycle rider. Seeeeya!
I heard from someone who had a RUF 911 (till he wrecked it) that it was Phil Hill...but he's not the kind of guy who i'd trust to know what he's talking about. Those vids are incredible, whoever he is...and i love that he's in like shorts with no helmet...aaah, the germans and their cars
I saw once a show with Alain de Cadenet (racing legend who also did some speedvision shows) and it showed him driving some Ferrari among other exotic cars. I then saw a highlight of him lapping in a yellow RUF 911 followed by a short clip of the yellow RUF totally smoking its tires in a long corner. I immediately thought about the RUF video clips that I have on my pc and to me it looked like it was the same thing. So my guess is that it was Alain de Cadenet. This guy can drive.
nah the guy looks to tall to be de Cadenet. and i think you can see his head in the mirror in one shot and it appears to be thinning

[alaindecadenet]Hello, I am Alain de Cadenet. Here I am on the Nurburgring about to drive a RUF Yellowbird, one of the most powerful road cars on the planet. There are only four people in the world qualified to drive this car on such a demanding track, AND YOU ARE NOT ONE OF THEM![/alaindecadenet]

No helmet, old pair of jeans and a short sleeve shirt. No socks with loafers if memory serves me correctly - I'll check the video this weekend. Any of you want a copy (on cd), IM me.
