Default question bout mixing GM synchromesh with engine oil

i was just reading the threads in the FAQ. I've decided to get some gm synchromesh fm since my tranny is grinding a little. but im kinda cheap. I know it takes like 2. something quarts. can i just get 2 quarts gm and the rest just put in regular 10-30 chevron engine oil? will it make the synchromesh uneffective? thanks

Why don't you just get another quart of SM and make it 3? I've been running 100% Synchromesh Friction Modified for well over 50K miles and it is awesome. My transmission is all original (minus clutch) w/ 207K miles on it.
