H22 Powered EG with superb handling....HOW????????
Hey all! Ok, so here's my story (I'll try to keep it short)! The other day I went to my brothers friends tuning shop in Chi-town and he gave me a ride in his H22 powered eg with I/H/E and a stripped interior. The car had full 36 way adjustable coilovers (not sure brand) which were tuned in for autocross, 15 inch Heliums with azenis 215s, a 6 pt cage, GSR front sway and 22mm comptech sway/tie combo in the rear, and front strut bar. We were going around 90 degree turns at 70 and 80 mph! It was insane!!
I've always heard that an EG wont handle worth **** with an H22. How did this one handle better than any other Honda I've been in? I know the wheelbase has alot to do with it, but how can I make my GSR handle this well? Thanks for the help in advance!

Ok so um, he has 36 way adjustable coilovers, azenis, GSR front/22m Comptech sway/tie bars in the back, and a strut bar, and you're asking why his car handled so well?
H22s are heavy, well, at least compared to a stock D15B or whatever came in his EG. An EG with stock suspension would be affected by this, but your brothers friend's EG had far from stock suspension.
Some coilovers would do your GSR a world of good, a couple strut bars, maybe some Type R sway bars, and a good set of tires would help out your cars handling. Have you ever participated in HPDEs, or ever autocrossed? Theres no point in doing lots of suspension mods when you aren't using your cars stock parts to their full potential.

I know the suspension helped the handling, I'm not a noob! I'm saying that people have alwasy told me the the extra weight from the B series to the H series would make the car too front heavy and therefore screw with the handling of the car.
As far as my car goes, I already have solid mount front and rear upper bars and a lower tie bar, springs and adj. struts, and decent tires. My car doesn't handle near as well as that eg.

The weight difference isn't really that great. Maybe 150 lbs or so, if that. All you need is to bump the spring rate up in the front. I'm sure his 36 ways are capable of that.

Yeah I figured you weren't a noob, but it really just had to do with the fact that he had a nice suspension setup (and his car was gutted) lol. Your car sounds like it has a decent setup as well. Maybe since you've already got the suspension and tires, you should look into some weight reduction.

True. 150 pounds is a significant difference, but with higher spring rates in the front, the handling wouldn't be that affected by the extra weight at all.

Yeah, I'm looking into that. I'm getting rid of the 50lb speaker box, maybe some lighter wheels, and possibly some cf.

Do it in this order.
1.Take out the heavy ****, via speaker box, and useless crap.
2.Take out the rear like backseats and ****, that is if you'r willing too and nobody ever sits back they're really.
3.Then get a CF hood, or trunk if you can, either would make a pretty good difference.

Yeah dude, definitely ditch the speaker box, maybe get rid of the sound deadening tar in the floorboard, and like Contender said, get a CF hood or trunk, or hell, get both.

They make the car more rigid. I'm not sure how much of a difference it makes with or without one though. But it definitely does make one.

My goal is to make a street sleeper while retaining most if not all factory options including full interior, pwr steering, A/C and cruise control. I know I said before that I would like some cf, but I want the car to stay stock looking. I removed my factory spoiler and big N1 exhaust. I love the sleeper look and the look on faces when they get raped by a car that looks like nothing!
