I have a chance to build my 00SI B16 with a good amount of stuff.... Do I go 84mm from GE sleeves or sleeve to 81.5 and then stroke with 1.8 crank?? Or do both 84mm plus 1.8 crank=2.0liter but will I still have a good enough rod to stroke ratio? This will most likely be with mack daddy parts so no half *** cheap parts going in..need advice from experienced builders and drivers, peace!
Generally the the shorter stroke will be more reliable under high boost, but if you dont plan on running 30psi I would bore & stroke it for the extra torque the B16 lacks.
If you plans on a high boost & high RPM setup I would stay with stock bore & stroke and just use boost to make up for the lower displacement.
I went with slightly longer stroke of B17 block and over-bored to 84mm. I think this is a pretty good compromise.
