Default Anyone Put a Cd Player in the Glove Box(Finished)???

Updated:Im finished w/ Pics and Description below
After some recent issues with theives and them stealing my cd player and all my cds, I have come across a deal on a cd player.

Only this time, I would like to keep it out of sight, ie in the glove box.

I know I would have to cut my glove box up a little and figure out some sort of bracket.

My concern is the wiring. I was thinking I just need to extend the harness to reach the box...What would I use to extend the antenae wire??? Worst comes to worse, I just wont use the radio, I dont much anyways...mp3 cds are the ****....

so, if anyone has any tips, pics or suggestions...let me know...thanks...

i would get an OE radio that had a pretty good amount of features, throw her in with some fab in the stock location, then buy a seperate single disc cd player or a shuffler and throw it in the glove box. or in the arm rest area if you have one.

i'm sure you can find an antenna extension cable. try an autoparts store, a stereo install place, or ebay.

You will have to extend the harness... nothing difficult though... just use wire extensions between the cd player harness to the adapter harness you will buy, so that you won't have to butcher your factory harness... I don't see anything about this being too difficult...

this is what needs to be done. i you know how to soder(sp?) wires this should be cake. plus you can buy a antanna extender from radio shack or any audio store.

I finally got my cd player and installed it in my glove box..heres some pics and descriptions..hope it helps someone...

heres the harness i extended about 18inches...i used some wire inbetween the cd player harness and the adaptor that i bought from autozone...i could have been alright with about 10" but i wasnt sure...

i had to cut a hole in my glove box so my glove box would close all the way w/ the face on the cd player..used a drill and then a razor knife to cut it out

this is the fartheset the cd would go. i test fit it, and it hits something behind the dash..but it closes like this

my dads got me some aluminum strips from his work that i used to make this bracket..its pretty thin and bent it w/ my hands using a table vise....

test fit and marking the holes for the rivets

the rivet tool i used to mount the bracket in the box

finished

lemme know what you guys think...i like it
too bad the cd player is awesome to look at..it has moving screens and stuff..

good work

It would be different in a DC because the inside of the glove box is shaped differently...but not impossible to do. The cut would just have to be more extreme.

my friend has it done in his civic, but i've never seen it in an integra, who needs the radio anyway, cds are better.... by the way, it looks kinda weird, but i guess its a good way to hide it, and it leaves better room in the middle for some custom stuff....

you coulad have also done a face plate relocation , then you keep the cd payer in the gb but you can have the face plate mounted up on your dash.
