Anyone used a D16Y8 Intake manifold on a D16Z6
Just wondering if anyone has this installed, and had problems like idling? Ever since i installed the Y8 intake manifold on my Z6 its been idling bad. It would surge up and down, i guess its hunting for a idle. I also installed the Hondata Intake manifold gasket with it. Just need some info and need to find how to figure out my problem
check the FITV *fast idle thermal valve)
the thing under the throttle body wit the coolant lines runing to it..
you can see if this is the problem by taking off your intake tube and putting your finger over the bottom hole.. if it stops going up and down thats your problem..
take it off 2 10 mm bolts.. \ there at opposite ends..
then take the 2 8mm bolts off holding the block off plate and titen the white thing inside..
also check your IACV the other thing on the back of the manifold that has coolant lines running to it.. check if the screens dirty/

well i bypassed both the iacv and the fitv, when i installed the hondata intake gasket. I'm thinking i might have not scraped off all of the old gasket when i took it off
doesnt matter if u bypass it or not.. the air is still going threw it.. all u bypassed is the coolant ... im tellin you
take of your intake tube.. stick ur finger over the bottom little hole before the butterfly and if it stops its the FITV..
my idle did the same thing took me forever to figure it out..
try that before u take the whole intake mani off
but yea if udidnt scrape all the old gasket off.. that will do it 2..
this kid i was helping forgot to do that and the car started and just revved all the way up.. then i look at his intake manifold and its like an 1/8th inch off the head in some spots lol i was like wtf u didnt notice that lol

unless u mean by bypass that you took it completely off and plugged the holes.. if thats the case maybe its not plugged all the way..
but by bypass i think u mean the coolant lines correct?

yea thats what i meant ur right, i bypassed all the coolant lines from my iacv and fitv. I really havent tried the carb cleaner to see if i had any leaks, but i'm running a turbo it runs fine just idle sucks ***. I'm really leaning towards that i didnt take off all the old gasket cuz when i did take it off it was a beech to take off, i was so pissed off. If it is my gasket i saw at the auto parts store that they carry a spray you can spray on it to take off old gaskets

yea that could be it.. but id try what i said with the FITV..
my idle did the same thing till i titened that up then it was perfect again!
likei said its really ez to see if thats the problem by just taking off your intake and putting your finger over the little hole on the bottom left.. if the idle dropps thats your problem

Yea i checked out the fitv i already had screwed that all the way in and i tried that what you told me, but it rus fine. I already have that blocked off, so no air goes thru my fitv at all.
What did you do to block it off? Curious. That'd solve my idle problem
(the screws on mine... cover? thing are just ... now I can't think of the word. Where if you keep going the screw head is just nothing and you can't unscrew the screw )
