MAIN REQ'D
yesterday i was on the freeway and out of no where my MAINT REQ'D light turned on. About 2 months ago i changed my battery because i sense that it was about to die...having a hard time turing on...but after I changed the battery the maint req'd light wound turn on and blink about 5times and go away...now it doesn’t even turn off. I tried to take out the battery and that didn’t even help...whats this from?!??!

Hondas will automatically pop the check engine light after so many miles, to insure that owners take it into a shop and get scheduled maintenance done (e.g. valve adjustment, etc.).
That it was flashing 5 times probably means something though. What happens if you jumper the ECU? Does it flash any codes?

yup it only serves as a reminder. just push the button under the dash.

take out the car manual and read about the maint. light. cause you have to use the key to turn car to one positio while pressing a reset to clear the maint. light.
maint .light = time for oil change.

Wow, 18 replies and 17 of them are usless.
THe Maint Required is just a reminder to the driver that its time for scheduled maint...oil change, 30k, etc. On the new Civics, with the key in OFF position, hold down the mileage reset button on the gauge cluster....then turn the key to ignition ON- don't start it. Keep holding down the button until the light flashes several times, and then goes out.
It won't come on because you didn't change the filter- you car doesn't know that much.
