Default Condensation on the taillights.

Ok....so I have a 96 Integra LS. I swapped out the original taillights for the 98 and up ones, but I noticed that I started developing condensation on the driver's side tail light. Hmmmmm The passenger side one was fine. But then I went and bought another pair and swapped it out, but now BOTH of them are experiencing some condensation. The driver's side has it in the reverse light compartment and the passenger side has it just on the bottom. Its frustrating because I don't know how to get rid of it. Any ideas? Or am I gonna get flamed and get told to use the search feature?

ok nvm, new question. After doing some searching, I found some threads saying to drill a hole in the lowest part of the taillight. But that was when dealing with aftermarket clears or altezzas.....Should I be doing that to OEM taillights???? I kinda don't wanna mess up the taillights.

take the lights out and let them dry....you can either let them sit overnight i spend between 30min-1hr with a hairdryer if u are impatient. when get a silicone gun and with some clear silicone and fill in the gap around the edge of the plastic...make sure u do a good job, then let them dry overnight and install them the next day...should fix condensation

Sure.....but you'll have to wait until I fix the ones on my ride just in case . The other ( original pair ) may have condensation on em too.....but I'll sell em for cheap though. If you want, I'll take a pic of them hopefully tomorrow or something and post em up here.

Happened to mine after I removed the taillights. Change the gasket and you'll be fine.

Yupp, that foam. It's not very cheap, but takes care of the problem. I think some guy on HT was selling homemade ones if you search.

Yeh...he's right, just get new gaskets and you'll be fine. They're a little bit on the expensive side tho...IIRC they were like $40 for both. Also, when you change out the gaskets make sure you clean all dirt and sand off the body of the car to ensure a better seal. Lastly...it's reccomended that you change the gaskets everytime you remove the taillights to ensure a proper, watertight seal or else you'll end up with water in your in your spare tire area like someone else mentioned above.

Definitely will keep that in mind. Also...a good thing to check for since i have a long weekend anyway

As for the silicone....won't I have to bake the taillights....or something? If so...I'd rather just get the gaskets after letting em dry.

no you don't have to bake and remove the old silicone, just do a clean job of putting the new silicone around the lense gap.
