Default b16a for a 4 door eg

does the b16a have potential in a 4 door eg? cos if you're comparing the prices between a b16a, b18c and b16b, the difference isn't funny. all i want to know is for those of you who has a b16a in your 4 door eg, how is it running?

my friend has a b20vtec in a 4 door eg and it runs a strong 13.9...i dont think the b16 would have the torque or power to push that big car...that would be liek putting a b16 in an integra haha. at least get a b18...jsut my $.02

Of course it has some potential, otherwise Honda would not have made the EG9 (Civic SiR)

b16a is more than enough for a 5th gen civic of any model. b20vtec would definatly be a lot more fun though

Doesnt really matter much what kind of EG it is, any Eg is pretty light so having 160 hp will help quite a bit

With that swap is it possible to retain AC and PS?

not sure about ps, but you need a 95 del sol vtec(b16) ac bracket and tensioner to make AC work when putting any b series in place of d series, same applies for any 92-00 civics

eg sedans with no moon roof are lighter than coupes and hatchbacks with them (EX and SI models). IMO b16 doesn't have a lot of torque unless you're going turbo. All motor wise I would rather go with at least an LS. b20's are not legal in california so that sucks for people like me.

There are all honda and Acura weights and the 4 door eg dx is lighter then plenty of the cars including the hatch.
I have a jap spec b16 in my 4 door eg and i love it its no race car but makes for a great daily driver.

Well I could honestly tell you that there will be a big difference from your stock sohc to a dohc regardless of what type of b-series you get...

i sold my ecu to some guy with a 4dr eg with a jdm b16 sir2...i was expecting it to be weak and crappy but i was surely surprised...i mean a gsr or type r would obviously do a little better with the larger horsepower number and larger torque numbers but...the b16 is still a good motor

Cool thank you. Now to decide B16 or save over a grand and go LS.
