ot: Why don't they require people at Honda to know anything?
it cracks me up any time i go to a honda/acura dealership because the people working there never seem to know ANYTHING, i went in for some regular maintenance and the head of the service dept asks me if my car was a factory color, i told him yes and that it was an integra type R, only integras that came from the factory in yellow, he looked at me all puzzeled and said "Type R??", i just laughed, but on the plus side they only charge 13 dolars for an oil change so thats a plus
Reminds me of the parts dept guy who said the stock tower bar mounted on the nuts that hold the shocks in place.

My friend tried to order a Type R front strut bar once from a local dealer. The guy at the parts dept. asked him what year he want, then ask him what color is his car, and finally asked him if it is a 2 doors or a 4 doors.
I can understand he asked for the year of the car, but what does the color of the car have to do with the strut bar and since when there is a 4 doors TypeR??

Because they will forget who they are and what they are doing there (limited brain resources).....

Here are a few stupid replies I have received by dealerships...
A) Is it a civic?
B) Is it a GSR???
C) Is it a v-6?
Not a V6 at all....Don't try to give me the trade in value for a GSR...No its not a civic fat azz....my responses sort of.

mine is pretty original: after telling him my car is a stock Type R, "Oh, i don't know anything about these cars, i just work on them."
well, i pride myself in being one of the *more* knowledgeable dealer employees out there, regarding high performance, etc.
but as a defense of this thread, i just GOTTA mention a few customers who didn't know anything when they called me....
*If I do CTR pistons and cams in my B16A will my gas mileage be worse?
*I need eight rod bearings, all number three. Got any in stock?
*Will oversized CTR pistons fit in a CRV block?
*I need a headgasket for an Integra. "What kind", I ask. "OH THEY'RE ALL THE SAME. I JUST NEED ONE"
excellent entertainment when business is slow...

All the people who work for Honda here are actually trained monkeys, conversations when buying parts go like this:
Me: Hi, I'd like an oil filter for a B18C
Parts Monkey: OOOOOOOWAAAAAAAAAA (monkey noises)
Me: Chassis number? why do you need a chassis number? I just want an oil filter.
Parts Monkey: OOOOOOOOWAAAAAAAAAAAOO
Me: OK, DC2########
Parts Monkey: OOOOOOOOWAAAAAAAAAAA
Me: Thanks.
Sam
P.S I'm not sure whats more worrying, that I can understand them or they can understand me!
P.P.S No offence to Mike K of course, If your looking for another job please come here, we need you

Maybe that guy just transfered from Japan?? There are 4 doors Type R in Japan and probably some other countries.. but just not in US..
Once the dealer even ask me whether the exhaust pipe is stock or not even though he know it's a ITR... It's all new to them... they don't see much ITR around anymore and it only appeared 97, 98 in the US, 2000 and 2001.. with a year gap.. so maybe they already forgot they got this kind of model on the Integra..

jerk
sorry, mike. i won't tell them about the time you tried to fondle my *** after buying me multiple drinks of stoli and cranberry juice at the pool hall.
At least you didn't hear your Acura mechanic state that he has never worked on a car that revs over 7,000pms, referring to my R. He had just walked away from an RSX Type-S
