pedal pressure is off
this is my third post today about this same piece 'o **** 86 model. thanks to everyone who has helped me so far. so here's another one... both my brake and my gas pedals are mushy at all times. barely any response at first, but as i increase pressure there is increased response up to a point. beyond that point (maybe 3/4 to the floor), the response goes way, way up immediately, like hitting a wall. it's drivable, but not particularly safe because of the slow brake response time so i'd like to get this straightened out.
Do you have any fluid in your brake reservoir?? You might have some air in your brake MC. Have you checked the throttle cable for the accel?? make sure its not loose?
i do have brake fluid in the reservoir, but i am unsure about the air. i'll check on that. maybe i should bleed the lines. have not checked the throttle cable and in fact i dont even know where it is. i would like to check, so if you could tell me where to find it, i would be most appreciative. i am only just learning to be my own mechanic and havent gotten very far yet, so please be as descriptive as possible. thanks.
Follow your intake pipe and it should lead to your throttle body. Around there you should see a little metal thing on the side of the throttle body. It looks kinda like a crooked C i guess you can say. You should see a metal wire running from it and that would be your throttle cable. BTW do you know your engine code by chance?
