Default h22 h22a 3rd gen (3G) 1988 Prelude 1/4 Quarter 1320 mile times (Search Friendly)

1988 Prelude Si 4WS. This was actually my second time. First time I ran 2 15.0's and 2 14.9's with 2.4 and worse 60 foots!

Prelude weights ~2700 stock. This has the H22 with no A/C, PS, or Cruise. The interior has no carpet and all of the cabin floor sound deadening is gone (trunk still has some). I race w/ no back seat and the trunk is empty too (both front seats are still there).

Quarter Mile Times
Current Mods that matter:
-H22 (10:1)
-Crower custom grind cams (soft stage two)
-AEM adjustable cam gears
-ACT HDSS Clutch kit
-No PS, A/C, Cruise
-14" Honda Alloys
-VAFC

Mods that don't matter:
-DC Header (no collector mod yet )
-hi flow cat, Thermal Research & Development (muffler, resonator w/ 2.25" exhaust piping though they used the stock exhaust flanges to connect it all! ).
-Intake Filter on throttle body (had to put my battery back in front since I didn't have a kill switch to have it in the trunk and I don't have any short ram intake piping ).
-205-50-14 Nitto Drag Radials (20psi but no traction as the are bald )

................1...................2............. ...3................4 ..............5

Hmm, I've seen this before... damn, where was it?

EDIT: Drop those 60s to 2.2s and those 94mph trap speeds are good for 14.7s

EDIT #2: I saw your setup, and that you have Crower Stage 2's. What are you using for tuning?

3500 rpm, try and pull off as fast as possible without wheel spin. Alot of clutch and throttle work.

EDIT: Have you had your motor tuned w/ the crower cams? If so, what was the final output?

you have to work on that launch. You should try a chipped ecu or hondata for tuning, vafc's don't really cut it unless you are only making a minor change.

As for my launch, I just suck! I don't know how you guys get 2.1's on street tires! I almost had a 2.2 this past time...so maybe after a few more trips to the strip!

Ignition timing is very important when tuning with cams. VAFC's simply do not have the ability to tune ignition. Last weekend a bone stock h22 w/ intake/exhaust put down 185whp/156wtq on a dyno down here. You need to get a socketed ecu and a local Crome/Uberdata tuner to go to the dyno with.

Just practice, and slipping the clutch a little.

But even then that's very impressive for a primarily stock H22a.

Anyone have a socketed ECU for the low low (like free!)?

PM Turbogixxer. He's my buddy and does awesome work w/ ecu's. Ask him about getting a converted P05 or P06 or P74. I think that is going to be your cheapest route.

Will the P05, P06, or P74 work with an H22?

BTW, I got a partial nitrous kit last night. Bottle, main line to solenoids, both solenoids (wet kit), and both lines to the nozzle. I think I need a jet, and a T and line for gas to the fuel solenoid...

I wouldn't suggest it if they couldn't. A good 'chipper' can convert them to handle both VTEC and secondary throttle bodies, if need be.

I've been able to attain 2.0 60' times on street tires and 1.9 on DR. Once youre in tune with the car you get the "feel" for it you could be as good as me.

You guys have allot of patience. I have a couple 2.2's on streets but I just get pissed when some bastard in the next lane over launches on me then I have to chase him down. So I bought some slicks and never looked back.
