honda accord 90 2 door ac doesnt blow cold air
i have a 90 accord 2 door dx which blows air which is not cold even though the ac button is pressed and the heater works like a charm tough...i am new at repairing my car i have successfully changed my muffler and my speed sensor and the rotors for my car thanks to you guys on this forum who have posted wealth of information for us newbees....but i have no idea what to do about this problem...i dont even know what part to look for which might be faulty...i have heard that sometimes just refilling or recharging some part with r134 or freon does the job...but how do i figure out where this is located and if it is freon or the new stuff...what can i do to find out why this is happening...i know the ac was working before the winter last year...i would appreciate any help and please elaborate as i am new at this...thanks
Most likely, the a/c system has lost it's charge (refrigerant has leaked out) from a leak somewhere. The trick is to locate said leak without breaking the bank (so to speak).
You can try recharging from a can (I'd suggest using only one) and see if the system pressures up enough to engage the compressor. You can let it run like that, but you'll be back to the "No a/c" complaint pretty quick.
Unless you've got a friend with a refrigerant leak detector and a charging station, you've gone about as far as you can.
In cars this old, it's often cheaper to let a "Professional" look at it. Reason being; they'll give you your answer (what needs to be done) with a minimum of the "grope and guess" process which can be not only costly, but frustrating as well.

unless the a/c system has been retrifitted to take r134a freon you cannot use it your car is a 90 accoed it takes the r12 freon you cannot mix the 2 ..
try a few simple steps.. when you turn a/c on does compressor engage at all?? both fans come on?? if compress and fans come on you might be low on freon or a heater valve issue ,, if you want to do it on your own let me know i can guide you through it but you need to get a set of pressure gauges
if you are not very experienced you might want to take P-ADAMS advise and take it to a shop
