AutoX vids in the R (56k beware)
Here are a few in car vids from '04 and '05.
I'll be posting some more soon, but haven't gotten around to editing them yet.

Also some pics from the USGP weekend on the other page.

Neat vids. You are a little late on some things and need to stay in the throttle a bit more from what little I could tell. Keep it up Bill! Too fun.

I'm being a dumb 'bench racer' here. I know I know...bench racing is t3h g@y. Fun to anylize this stuff none-the-less. Turns 2,4,5 are all late apexs. The slight dog leg after the the start leads into turn two which should have been taken as far left as you could with a late apex which would have sent you left and set you up at what I feel, would have been a more optimal entry into the slalom.
Turn for kinda looks like a hairpin/late apex. Turn five looks like a decreasing radius turn.
I like the vids, pretty fun to watch. I had to explain to my girlfriends watching what was going on.
"These guys get together and race in a parking lot. It's totally legal and very safe"
Girls: "Wish teenagers would catch on to stuff like that, that looks super fun!!!"

The vids from '04 were on worn Azenis, the ones from this year are on race tires. I bought two new Kumho V710's and two used Hoosier A3S04's. They squall a little bit, but not as bad.Uploading a new one right now, should be there any minute, from 5-22-05.

Thanks for the input, I still have a lot to learn, which video were you talking about?

I'm just a no-body surfer from Hawaii. Was talking about vid#1.
Your second vid was nice. I was listening close to the anouncer... your times were dropping drastically.

I can't claim to be a professional by any means, but in the 8-8-04 video in particular, it looked like you were getting behind in the slalom. When you pass the cone, you already want to have that turn made and be about to make the next one. In the video, it didn't look like you started making the turn until the cone was at your door. I think you can carry more speed if you don't try and stay right on the cones and take the straightest line but rather make it slightly wider and turn early.
Just my 2 cents, and I haven't watched them all yet, so maybe it was corrected.

I think I understand what you are saying, thanks.

Here's a little diagram of what I was trying to say.
o = cone
dashes are the car (ignoe the periods in the second diagram, that's a formatting thing to get the dash to line up correctly)
\
o\ <-what you want to be doing
..|
o| <-what you don't want to be doing
Look at the picture as if the slalom were going vertical on the page. If you pass the cone in line with the direction of the slalom, you're going to have to make the turn around that cone in a smaller distance to get in position for the next cone compared to if you passed the cone as shown in the top diagram. In the top diagram, you've already made the turn for the cone you're passing and can set up for the next one. In doing so, you have more distance to make the turn and you're opening up the turns around the cone, so you can carry more speed through the slalom.
Hope that helps,
Brian
