From: on the pot and counting to, 100, 97477

why doesnt vtec work

my friends 00 fbp si has a itr motor in and vtec isnt kickin in, the oil pump is fine im thinkin its something electrical, were runnin p2t ecu.. any suggestions

Check the oil and make sure he has enough in it.

Is the speedo working?

I have a '99 EX and my speedo jumps around b/c I have a short in the signal wire. There are a few factors that go into engaging VTEC like oil pressure, vehicle speed, engine temperature...

Vtec doesnt always have to work. Do you not know the labor laws of our country? You paid a base price for vtec and it should only HAVE to work 5 days a week, on the other two he decides if he wants to work.

k new update, when i hit vtec or supposedly hit it, the vss goes crazy and it jumps up to like 100 and bounces. i dont hit vtec but when it is supposed to engage it does this.. so that means new vss right or what?

clean the connectors on the VSS and plug. i had the same problem my spedo would flutter like crazy at WOT.
