Default Just got my CRX time to trouble shoot.

Well i picked up my crx 2day and man am i happy. Can't wait till i get it inspected and registered so i can just drive it. Well now that i have it i need to start trouble shooting minor problems.

Speedo does not work, check tranny light comes on after about 5 minutes of driving. My thoughts is that the speed sensor on the tranny is dead and thats what is doing both any thoughts(remember i am new to the crx)

Under heavy rain the passanger side floor board gets wet.
- not sure on the drainage points but it seems like the water seeps threw the fire wall, not too sure.

At idle the revs do go up and down in Neutral once the clutch is in it goes away. TPS? idle speed sensor?

Other than the window has a chip in it, needs minor body work on the back, water in rear taillight(after accident), she told em the steering rack is going but feels normal, and i need a new drivers seat. 2maro i need to get pics up.

yay for you. Lets begin:

Speedo - Check speedo cable at both ends. Back of the gauge cluster, top of the tranny.
There isn't a sensor in the tranny, the gauge cluster indicates your speed to the ECU by a series of electronic pulses as the cable spins faster.

Check for grommets on your firewall, biggest one is the old A/C Position. It's Egg shaped, under the Charcol canister.

Lopeing Idle - Probably a vacumme leak or a bad O2 sensor.

Thanks man.

Im new to obo-o also. If it was a dead o2 would it throw a code? Also is the check tranny light due to the speedo not working?

The lady did say the A/C was not working and needed new parts. Thanks for the info. Only thing that worries me is the tranny light.

That should be the check engine light......yellow right?

Pull the carpet up from the passenger floorboard and check the codes that the ecu flashes.

water leak.

I had the same problem but on the driver's side. I found a drain tube (for the sunroof im guessing) that was off. The drain was in the corner of the front kick panel area.

MY car fills up in the passenger side also. Ive found that this actually comes in the hatch for me and runs forward without even getting the stuff in the back soaked! I dont know how it does it, but thats where my leak is maybe this is true for yours also. Fix for that is to spray silicone lube on the seals around the hatch door and the window to replace lost moisture in the seals. eastwoodco has a nonsilicone version called rubber conditioner that would work good too.

Thanks Floss. As i thought it was just the code 17 VSS speed sensor. Guess i might have to pick that up maybe it is just a wiring problem.
