okay how bout this then both crx's have all stock interior and power options and what not, also they are both a DX the drivers weigh 150lbs, and both motors have 70,000 miles on them and the ls is 94-95 obd1 and the b16 is out of a 99-00 coupe so obd2 and the b16 tranny on the LS motor has 30,000 miles on it and both engines run real good.

If the cars are even, the b18b would win.

In a 1/4 mile drag, B16A. The B16 just has so much more top end. In the 1/8 mile, I have no doubt that the B18B would win.

ok im new, not just to honda tech but to cars in general, but correct me if i am wrong b18b = 130hp b16a2 - 160hp. if the only diff is the motor then i would assume the b16 would smack the panties off the b18.... ummmm but then again i am wrong alot

B18b = 142hp

Stock for stock its going to be close.
I chose the B18b because (a)it was cheap and (b) I don't have to rev the living snot out of it to get any power while driving on the street. Of course I'm running a B16 y1 tranny. If I was running a LS tranny, I would be answering differently.
More torque rules.

http://crx.honda-perf.org/math/index.html
Play with the calculator to find RPM ranges for both B16 and B18 with the selected tranny

Get Torque curves for both engines in the power ranges

factor in vehicle weight
you should get somewhat of an educated answer

BUT also factor in that not all B18 or B16A's produce the same POWER

This beats listening to **** wars about My homies B16 this and My dawgs B18 that.

Anotheredhatch on here, has just an LS tranny and can hang with a b16a until around 95 or so. I never ONCE had a problem with a B16a and barely had issues with a GSR swap.

you are an idiot....tons of differences
1st one is vtec the other isn't
one has .2 l more displacement
one has 20 more hp
one has 20 more ftq
pistons are different
strokes are different
one has an oil cooler
one has 7mm taller deck

they both share same oilpan, oil pump, mains, main bearings....that's about all they have in common....other that both are aluminum....

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by 96integsr &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">okay how bout this then both crx's have all stock interior and power options and what not, also they are both a DX the drivers weigh 150lbs, and both motors have 70,000 miles on them and the ls is 94-95 obd1 and the b16 is out of a 99-00 coupe so obd2 and the b16 tranny on the LS motor has 30,000 miles on it and both engines run real good.</TD></TR></TABLE>

car weight equal, equal drivers, equal mods....

b18 with b16 tranny will walk circles on a b16 with b16 tranny....

have done this same thing....equal cars....
one with ls and b16 stock header
other b16 with b16 tranny with header....

ls pulled 2-3 cars to 115mphs!!!

changed drivers....SAME RESULTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

don't believe me....then GO DO IT FOR YOURSELF YOU TOOLBOXES!!

thanks for all the answers and comments. i was leaning towards b18b w/b16 tranny in the beginning but now im positive thats what im going to go with, i am also getting more bang for my buck it seems like, and if i ever wanted to make it vtec its just a head ecu and oil line away, with some other modifications.
