have you guys ever heard of this motor( motor swap q)
on the block its stamped d16a. on the valve cover it says vtec. and it has the vtec solenoid. and spark plugs are up front(like all d series vtec motors) does anyone have the stats on this motor. i put it in my 92 civic. but now i got a crx si all stock but the d16a6 in it has 300,000 miles. so i was thinking of pullin the d16a vtec and putting it in the crx. now is it worth pulling it or shuold i just get a d16z6? also can somone who did this swap tell me some quarter mile times and is it really worth all the work? and does anyone konw where i can a z6 for cheap. im in ny and the junyard around here dont let you pull your own ****
i think you might be right. casue i someon else toled me it was a single cam vtec zc its obd1 casue it was plug and play in a 92 civic. is that better thean a z6? any hp an tq stats please

Ok I bought this motor here in CA for $300 complete motor, no tranny or ecu. here's a pic:

it's stamped "d16a" only.

I'm puting it into my CRX this weekend, it's supposedly was used in 2 cars that I've been told so far honda had out there. It was in a european ferio and a mexican civic. it's very similar to the 92-95 Si or Ex, if not exactly the same.
going in this weekend

good luck!!

I had the same question when I was doin my motor swap a couple months back. My research came back that the D16A is JDM VTEC-E...I mated that block with a Z6 head. I can't find the info I had on it before (it was over 7 months ago). I like the set-up...
Nice lookin car by the way...

ps and horsepower are different ratings so you are both right. I should give you a thumb down for not knowing the difference.

FYI...it's a bitch finding parts for this set-up. Waterpump, timing belt, etc. It's worth it now though
Also, you can up the compression with a Y8 head gasket...

Really. My friend has a boosted D16A with 10 lbs on a t3/t4 and he said that all Singlecam Vtec parts from the Z6/Y8 are interchangeable.

Make sure you swallow
yeah i just use z6 **** on it. water pump ect. i also read in temple of vtec that there are two of them. one is 105 hp and the other is 130 for the awd something or other.
Well I know we had a hard time finding a waterpump to fit...and I have tried a couple different timing belts with none of them fitting perfect...z6 on there now - fits the best but still loose.
