Can you retrofit a machine gun to it to fire upon intrusion?

That's an awesome tidbit of technology nonetheless.

if you've got highspeed (dsl/cable) at your house... just set up a wired or wifi camera, serves the same purpose. now as for parking at the mall... what if someone jacks the camera? you going to carry a 18' extension ladder with you everywhere to mount it places?

motion sensor and temperature alert functions seem pretty cool. I wonder if it will take an instant pic when the motion sensor is tripped and send the pic to your phone? THAT would be awesome. of course it could be annoying if things like bugs and passing traffic trip the motion sensor all the time though.

Place it on the dash of your caR, when the guy gets in he face has been sent to you and then you can call the cops or if you place the car in storeage for a while right on top of the car facing the door. so many ways to use that camera

I actually looked at buying one of these a few months ago, a little too rich for my blood though. It can either be hooked up to a computer, or it also takes its own SIM card (which would require its own cellular plan).

I bid on one on eBay a while back, but the reserve was over $300.00 -- there's one on there now that has met the reserve and is at $200 right now. Could potentially be a good deal considering they retail at $450.00: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISA...=WDVW

I'd like to see some sample images from that cam. I see that the resolution is 640x480. The images from my phone in 640x480 is horrible. Can't make out anything.

Also, I really don't see how a simple picture would be THAT helpful. Even if you got a clean mug shot, it'd take a LOOONG time to track the person down, if at all. I hate to be the pessimist, but I'm trying to look at this from all sides.

You can request images from a camera they have set up in Europe here under the "Try It Now" link.

Sub-par image, IMO. But I guess you can't have too much security.

that's soo coool! but a little pricy, picture messaging from bell here cost me a fortune last time. receiving the picture is cheap but when I went to view it.. it had to download it from their site and it would use bandwidth @ $50/meg. I think every picture cost me $5-10

anyone else have sms pagers for their alarms? instead of two way RF pagers? Mine didn't come with either.. I'm working on building one that'll page me over SMS when my alarm goes off based on which sensor and I might put a GPS on it. no monthly service thing for GPS tracking.

a theif will strike when it's most unexpected.

you'd be pretty lucky to snap a pic when the incident is occuring.

Luck got nothing to do with it... " Features motion-detection and temperature-alert functions."

That technology is pretty cool, but unless it sends pics to ur phone instantaneously, after being set off, its pointless. Lets say ur more that 30 sec away from the car, its gonna get jacked way before u can get there. And even if u have the pic of the thief, unless he has a previous record they wont know who he is. And the whole time interval thing sux too, what if your car is stolen in between intervals. All in all its a cool idea, but in no way going to keep your car from getting stolen, or aid in the recovery. Most police departments dont give a **** about car theft, they have better things to do.

when I have my phone set to receive AOL or YIM messages it's with in 5 seconds.

I'd say it's quick enough...
