How do tell a ITR tranny from a GSR Tranny??
Hi, i am having trouble distinguishing visual differences between a GSR tranny and ITR tranny.
I did a search and could not find anything. Basically as you all probably know the GSR and b18c5 trannies have a different final drive of 4.400 from the ITR UKDM and JDM trannies which have 4.785 Final drive. The tranny codes are the same S80/Y80.
How can you tell without driving them, the differences in the trannies? anyone know the serial codes for them?? and where are the serial codes located.
The sticker on the tranny i want to buy has pealed off, is it embossed anywhere???

i seen your site man it is sick, it helped me do a cambelt change and set tappets.
I thought they all have LSD, we get a b18c6 in the UK, don't know about US. B18c6 has a FD of 4.785 and i have been told the 96 ITR has FD 4.400 aswell does the USDM b18c5 trannies, so looking for LSD will just let me know if is got one but not the FD.
01PY0559 told me to look for JH4 LSD stamped on case? going to look at it today and see what is stamped on it, will post it later.

After being scammed once before, I don't care what a tranny says on the casing. I spent quite a bit of change on a supposedly 'jdm itr w/ 4.785 final' When I went to fix a grind that I developed, I decided to count the teeth on the gears only to find out I had a gsr w/ jdm final drive. So, the only way to really tell is to count the gears, which isn't practical.

Your going to have to open the case to do so. Many sellers will not allow you to do so.
