The stock tachometer is off. They have always been off and will always continue to be off. They can be off anywhere from 100 RPM to 1,500 RPM. Only thing you can really do is install an aftermarket tachometer if you really want to know what RPM you're shifting at and/or what RPM you're bouncing the rev limiter off of.

How do you know you're hitting redline at 7,000 RPM if the tachometer is off? Are you bouncing off the rev limiter? If so, you're not at 8,200 RPM, you're more at 8,600 RPM.
