ok ok...i'm new to the darkside...what kind of oil do i use in a turbo GSR...i've always been a allmotor guy runnin my 5w-40 synthetic....what is the best to use for the turbo...please help i wanna start my motor all i have left to do is hook up the charge pipes........thx

 

you'll be fine with regular engine oil used on a honda. make sure u pour a little oil in the turbo bearing or prime the oil system prior to startup.

 

regular or synthetic....and what weight can i use...can i still use 5w-40....it's hot as hell in AZ

 

just because u go turbo doesnt mean u have to use a special turbo formulated oil. use what u would normally use.

 

i would use some thicker oil because of the heat.

 

I run Amsoil 10w40 full synthetic here in good ol HOT Texas. Works fine.

 

i thought honda's use a 5w cold weight and at least 30 hot weight....i so i'm gonna try the 5w-40 synthetic for now..unless anyone says something different

 

i would go with something thicker just for the extra protection thiner oil will burn off faster

 

One little thing, if it is a brand new motor you should stear clear of synthetic right off the bat. Brake it in with regular, drain it, flush it with a quart of syn. and then syn all the way home. Regular oil leaves more residue that will stick and adhear to parts that will help in the brake in.
