Trubo setup... am i missing anything?
Ok i ahve searched all around and am about to put a Z6 in my car and going to turbo it.. so i wanted some peoples advice on if what im going to get is too much... and if im missing anything...
D16z6 engine...
14b turbo (or maybe a t3/t4) havent descited yet
Intercooler
34mm wastegate
HKS BOV
turbo Timer (and if someone tells me there for ricers tell me why because i would beg to differ)
Larger injectors (550 i beleive)
Larger fuel pump
Y8 intake manny
Fuel press regulator
chipped p28
...? anything im missing.. i think i am...
once again this is just a basic setup and looking to get the most hp for my buck at the time being... as of right now my goal with this setup is about 8 psi and atleast 200whp
Let me know what you guys think..

Indiana? Need help? Let me know.
My fee is generally gas money and a case of beer.
You won't need a pressure regulator with a chipped ECU and 550 injectors, i used a DSM braided relocation (or something?) oil feed, perfect fit, do not go cheap on oil lines. Use rubber in the return rated for oil and heat, anything else will melt.

Those injectors are HUGE for that hp goal. Get DSM 450's. They're good up to 300 hp. You won't really NEED a turbo timer cause I believe the 14b is water-cooled. Don't quote me on thet. Also you didn't list charge pipes or a fuel management.
Even with water cooled turbos, letting the turbo cool off after driving it is very smart. I took apart a water cooled turbo that was caked horribly inside with oil.
No offense or anything but you need more knowledge. Just keep reading up in the FI forum and youll be set.
Your list is missing, pipping, downpipe, couplings, T clamps (dont get the flat head ****), oil lines, oil return, etc. Little **** that goes a long way.

I have an MX-6 Intercooler, charge pipes for the same car, as well as a by-pass valve i will be getting rid of in the next few months. Set-up is good to 12psi, after that, the valve starts leaking, i'm planning 20psi, i'm going to upgrade to a nice front mount, good charge piping, and a stronger by-pass valve.
$100, it will require removal of the hood latch and bumper support, hood pins will be needed.

HF/CX/STD/any D-series model with a pre-cat will work for your set-up, i picked one up from a junkyard for $70 and made an adaptor plate. Unless you have a welder, i'd stay away from OBX or SSAutoChrome, i'm currently running an OBX and need to weld it.

I didn't know you can run an external gate on the HF/CX/STD manifold? He listed a 34(??)mm wastegate there. *confused*

14b has an internal wastegate so you dont need a wastegate, unless you wanna weld the flapper shut.
like mentioned above, u forgot the biggest part, the manifold. if you go the junkyard manifold route, dont bother with the external wastegate.
if you get a better manifold, and a t3/t4, then yes, you will need an external wastegate.

If you are going to run a 14b definately don't take the time and effort to weld the flapper shut so you can use an external wastegate... just use the 14b's internal gate.
The HF mani/14b turbo combo is a good budget setup that makes good power.
Like already stated, pick up some DSM 450cc injectors, they are cheap and work fine for the power you want to make.
Don't worry about the turbo timer. It's really not that hard to let your car cool off for a minute or so after driving it hard. You don't even have to do that if you don't want to, stock turbo cars don't come with turbo timers you know
You probably don't need a new fuel pump or fuel pressure regulator. I don't have either and my d16 is pumping out about 200hp.
Oh, it might be a little hard to get 200hp from a 14b at only 8psi. You might have to turn it up a bit, depending on your tune etc.

Alrighty... well as far as the oil lines (feed and return) and all the charger pipes i figured i did not need to list thos parts because it was basically a givin.. you cant run a oil fed turbo with out lines.. and what idiot would try to run one with good potential without a intercooler. and if you have a intercooler you need the charger pipes...i was also planning on getting the B16 65mm TB and running 2.5in charger pipes.. i believe thos numbers match up... as far as not needing a turbo timer... Wilcox.. i don’t want to add another 5 mins when im going some place to sit in my car and let it cool down for a min or so... just easier to take the key out and let the car shut off on its own.. lol as far as fuel management.. what all would i need? i figured the program i would have burned onto the chip when i get it tuned would cover that part.. maybe im wrong...? Thanks for all teh advice people... Later
Suit yourself... but I know tons of people with turbo cars and none of them have turbo timers.
You will spend as much time fiddling with the turbo timer to get it to work as you would just letting the car cool off for 30 seconds.
I understand though, I used to want one when I first turboed my car but I couldn't find one that would work with my Alpine alarm so I bagged the idea and got used to it.
