Default Anyone else had this experience with Pioneer HU's?

I have a coulpe year old Pioneer (DEH-440 or something like that) head unit and one day I didn't get sound from the left-front speaker. I got a brand new speaker and replaced it and still nothing. So I ran a brand new wire through the door and STILL no sound. I checked continuity through both sets of wires and they are both perfect.

Process of elimination says my HU is messed up. I've checked all the settings so its not just faded/balanced out of that speaker. The connections seem to be good in the harnesses. I've also JUST started noticing that my front right speaker is cutting in and out at random times. If I tap the HU, it usually comes back on.

Anyone have any other tips to try before I buy a new HU? Anyone ever had the same problem?

Well, do you have rear speakers? Do they play? If all audio cuts out then you may have a wire shorting to ground somewhere or one of your rear speakers may be blown. If the only speakers you have hooked to the radio are the fronts with new wire, wire wise that means no rear wires hooked up behind the radio, then the deck may have gone bad.

im having a similar problem with my pioneer hu DEH-P3600 head unit. What happens with mine is that the screen says mute and it mutes sound to all speakers. Mine does it usually on hot days. FCM one of the ht members here thinks it a cold solder inside the actual hu. Pioneer hu . So im takin it in and seeing if thats the prob. Ill tell u once i find out. Im gonna go alpine after i get this takin care of.
