Default Head Unit problems

My Alpine CDA-7894 has been acting up lately, but I may be to blame. Here it goes...I bought a four cahnnel MTX amp off my friend and installed it while running new speaker wire. Everything worked, but a damn ground loop (oh whell, that's no biggie). I bridged the amp to run just my 6x9s and hooked the head unit's internal amp's front two channels to my front components (but didn't disconnect the battery before doing so). When I tested everything, the loop was still there, and the front speakers aren't producing sound. I made sure the internal amp was toggled on, and I pulled the batteries' ground and neither helped. HELP please!

try to reset the unit.. all alpines have a reset on the front faceplate.. hold it in with a pin or something for about 5 secs and see if taht fixes it

This may sound silly, but did you use the correct speaker wire? You said you ran new speaker wire, so I assume maybe you ran new wire for the fronts and decided later to power them by your head unit and didn't switch the wires around.

If that isn't the case, you may also want to try another set of speakers to verify whether it's the speakers and/or your head unit.

well how it all started was with me installing an amp to run all four speakers, but it didn't sound as clear as from Alpine's internal amp, so I was going to run the rears 6x9s with my amp and my front components (all speakers are Boston Acoustic) with my head unit. Now the front speakers don't work and my head unit has being doing weird things too, like the display has been turning off, buttons not operating n beeping. So I have turned for help.
