Check for a short in the wire where your brake light switch circuit is coming in contact with the door switch.

sorry to thread-necromance here but you just helped us solve a two month long problem in about 20 seconds. Lord knows what made the fuse blow but it hasn't happened again.

Brake-Horn fuse 20a under the hood was blown. Popped a new one in and we are good to go.

thank you thank you thank you thank you!!!!!!!

Weird, would your door ajar light come on too?

Does anyone know why that happened to the op? I know the solution was a fuse but if the fuse was for the brake/horn why would it affect the door ajar light?

Thread necromancing again.
I've had this issue for the last couple weeks. googled it and found someone with my same car who fixed this issue 12 years ago.
problem solved in under a minute.
Just another reason why I love this forum!

I'm ok with necromancing threads by confirming helpful content like the last two did.

As for why? Probably designed purposely so the driver knows there's an issue so that it's fixed sooner than the risk of driving without brake lights. Just a thought.
