D16A1 rods are really strong if you want to inexpensively beef up your internals.

Get a y8 intake manifold and LS throttle body.

Not sure which obd series you are running. If you are running obd-0 get a chippable PM6 and chip that. And if you aren't going to chip, run a PM7. If its obd-1, i have no idea.

If you are going to do that, since your transmission will be off the car, you might as well get an upgraded clutch. Like an organic clutch from exedy i think is who makes them.

get the 92+ head gasket best $30 you will spend on that engine, for both the compression increase and the reliability.

header- oem 1998+ Ex exhaust manifold $40-50 at the junkyard true 4-2-1 design, A/M whatever you can afford and like I am partial to the SMSP.

intake- (depends on chassis, this doesn't easily fit a CRX without moving the battery) use a Z6 intake manifold portmatched to a B-series TB, then run an integra intake arm (LS or ITR) and airbox w/K&N (cheap shortram) all of this should run you no more than $200 if you shop around on here and junkyards long enough.

exhaust- (again depends on chassis) stock Si midpipe and DA integra muffler $100(for both parts) + $40 to have the muffler mounts moved at a muffler shop.

Under $500 bux (paying top dollar) and you have easily made some HP that you WILL notice, no loud intake or exhaust.

I am ghetto, why buy some fancy-schmancy BS when I can use others throw-aways on the cheap.

oh if you don't have an Si trans I would get one $200-300 (4.25 final drive for quick accel)

a light flywheel is nice but keep it around 10-12lbs $100-300 (depending on steel or aluminum)

throw in a 92+ exedy replacement clutch $150-200, bigger disk = more grip (provided you don't have an '88 Si tranny, then you have to use an '89 prelude Si disk with the civic pressure plate).

Sohc ZC's are very underated, they are like a Si with a hotter cam, very tough and can be pretty damn quick (even if you do go ghetto!)
