Default Is this possible?

i have a d16y8 and i wanted to know if i could swap over some zc pistons for higher compression without having to have the motor tuned by a shop??

you dont have to have it tuned, the gain will be minimal at best, and if the extra 5 horsepower REALLY matters then go for the tune they arent that aggressive

unless you want the p29 pistons or the jdm equivlent then you should tune, and not do ANY type of machining i personally dont feel those are safe

zc pistons are aggressive, and you ll need a tune so it doesnt go to lean

specify the zc

SOHC VTEC ZC

DOHC NON VTEC ZC

all pistons are diffrent and all displace 1.6 literes

Why not just go with Forged Pistons.. your already going to pull the motor apart to put in ZC pistons.. Spend alittle cash and do it the right way!

The pistons would be coming out of a stock DOHC ZC non vtec. The reason i ask is because i can get the pistons and rods for free.

any bump in compression will require a tune if you want the engine to last and not grenade itself

i dont mean to kinda bite off your thread, but i have a jdm SOCH NonVtec zc, and if i put a z6 vtec head on it i hear i might actually loose power... due to my slightly more aggresive cams and higher compression... any help? is it worth it?
