Default burning oil?

My gsr has been burning more and more oil these past couple months. I bought her with 87k a year and a half ago and she was eating a little less then a quart every 3000 miles... now a little over 100k and im up to 2 full quarts every 3k miles. I changed the oil 1400 miles ago (mobil synthetic since i bought the car) and the level is already below the second mark. No blue smoke and no leaks. I know that its normal for it to burn a little oil but when you put in 4 quarts then another 2 during 3k miles and still only 2.5 comes out thats a little excessive Any ideas?
