block cleaning?
hey guys, im getting ready to sleeve my b18c5 block and was curious upon sending it out... what would be the best way to clean my block? the block is dirty and was previously painted by the owner. i tried aircraft aluminum stripper and it worked out ok, but not nearly as clean as i would like it.
can you sandblast/beadblast the block? any bad affects of doing so?
thanks.

i wouldnt beadblast the block. I work in an engine building the shop and thats a big no-no. ***** up a lot of **** not to mention u must get every spec out of the coolant and oil passages. Clean it in a parts cleaner.
what about sandblasting? is that the same thing as beadblasting? i called a local shop and they mention they can use glass as the media. another member also mentioned that shotpeening is a option. any other options?

That link is just too funny, amazing what people are capable of doing
But I also have a transmission that is covered in dirt so this is an interesting topic, but I don't think that either a dishwasher or sandblasting is the solution for me.
