Default Turbo+WAES+NOS - Possible?

Hallo,

sorry for the stupid question but i'am curious ;-)
don't tell me that this is overkill, i just want to know if it is technical possible or maybe if it makes sense in a technical way.

the idea is the following:

turbo: a must ;-) no question but if i would take a big turbo on a small engine it sould have a lot of lag

WAES: cooling the charge and make it possible to run more boost with given CR and no race gas

NOS: to reduce the lag of the big turbo at low and mid rpm's?!

it would be overkill, thats clear... but is it possible?

Thanks

Possible? Sure. Royal PITA to tune? Yep. Worth it? Nope.

This what I have done on both my race car and street civic.

I'm running a small turbo and nitrous and have had great luck with this combo.

On my Civic I run at 14psi and a 70shot with water alcohol injection on pump fuel.

At 22psi and a 70shot 418whp/314torque I run race fuel and no W/A injection.
At this level its not worth risking.

hm, sounds very interesting... can you tell me a bit more details about your engine/setup? especialy octane and compression ratio

Thanks
Malte.

Ever try running Alky injection on your 22psi tune? As long as you can monitor the AFR's I would totally try it. Theoretically it would just act as a margin of safety and maybe make more power, due to the fact that you are running more boost = higher intake temps.

But the thing that I would be curious about is your intake temps @ 22psi with nitrous? Is it direct port? Where is the Alky spraying in the chargepipe?

I also have another non related question for you, Does your boost increase when you spray nitous with the same boost controller setting? If so, please elaborate...

D16Z6 block and head
Arias 9.0:1 comp pistons
crower rods
stock sleeves with block guard
ARP head studs
Cometic turbo H/G

As for fuel here in the states its pump 92 premium.

Question 1)
I haven't really tried the alky alone at 22psi. It would be interesting to see might have to do this. I'll get back to you on this one.

Question2)
Both the race car and the civic the air temp sensor is in the charge pipe before the nitrous system. The race car is a D/P the civic is a single wet fogger. I found it easier to run the air temp correction without the nitrous interfering with the sensor.
The alky is spraying after the cooler

Question3)
Yes boost does increase both seen on the data-log and boost gauge. I have a theroy why but I'm at work so it will take to long for me to write up now. lol

Just FYI alky really doesn't make power itself, it just prevents detonation to allow you to run much more timing, thus making more power.

i was under the impression that you ran it alot richer and therefore burnt more of it increasing power as well as running cooler.

When you add Methanol without any more boost or timing you do make more power.

Nope. The alky/water is be misted into the chargepipe where it will evaporate almost instantly, the evaporation process cools the charge air and allows you to run more power because the motor isnt ingesting such hot air which as we know can/will cause detonation
