Default Mini-me completed - now idle surges (IACV stays open)

We just completed a mini-me on a D16y7 block in an 96 EK hatch. The head is d16y7 head from a 96 civic coupe.

We are using the P2P (sohc vtec) ecu and swapped pin A14 to A12, however the idle surges. The IACV stays open and will not close. There are no CEL codes either.

If i swap the ecu back to the P2E (non-vtec sohc) ecu and change A12 back to A14 the car idles rock solid.

I even tried a P72 ecu and it still surges at idle.

Any one have any advice? Thanks.

a13 and a14 is the location for IACV+ and IACV- on the D16Y non-vtec's and auto's. On the SOHC vtec and DOHC VTEC's there's only 1 wire instead of 2 and its located at A12.. so when we swap a DOHC or do a mini-me, you have to move A14 over to A12 inorder to use the vtec ECU.

Which intake manifold and IACV are you using? I am assuming that you are using the entire top end (head, IM, etc.) from the SOHC VTEC motor. Am I correct?

Or are you using the IACV and IM from the original motor?

Found the problem... The donor vtec head was actually from an AUTOMATIC!!! but the previous owner had swapped a manual tranny onto it.

So we assumed it was a manual setup, which it wasn't.. therefore the intake manifold, IACV and throttle body were all different.. hence the surging idle.

We've fixed it now... swapped the intake man., throttle body and IACV to a manual civic one.

Thanks for the help.

G3-TEG, how much did the intake manifold, throttle body and IACV cost you??? i have the same problem but i just did a auto to manual cangeover and im guessing i have to do the same thing...
You can pretty much pick upa complete mini-me swap for under $400USD. So figure the intake manifold, TB and iacv wouldn't be more than half of that.

We had a few SOHC motor lying around from misc swaps and stuff that we were able to canabalize for our needs.

oh yea another thing do you work for
C-SPEEDRACING.COM??
I am the owner.

Its basically the same thing as an LS/VTEC - B20/VTEC swap, however its converting a SOHC non-vtec motor to having VTEC but mixing the non-vtec SOHC block with an SOHC VTEC head. Since its the smaller version of the DOHC which has become known as the "Frankenstien" motor - the smaller counterpart took the name "Mini-me" from Auston Powers.

Engine mount? I never sold an engine mount to anyone... If you didn't deal through me (only) then it wasn't c-speed.

Please email me.
