Default h22a4 head on h23 block

will the newer h22 head work on my 92 si h23? will the odb2 mess it up? or will I have to convert? I found an usdm h22a4 with "one cylinder with low compression" for $650 sounds like a good deal for something that could only be a ring or something. he said it'll still run also it's in the car now. what ya think?

Yes it will work... You will want to use OBD1 injectors though with a P13 OBD1 ecu... You can reuse your H23 distributor...

No, you will need OBD1 H22 Injectors because yes, the H23 ones are too small... And there aren't any OBD2 sensors on the head for you to worry about....

if i'm gonna take the head off, what else can I do while the head is off to rejuivinate things. I should probably get some piston rings cuz my current engine has 190k on it. Is it possible to replace main bearings while the block is still in the car?

Also... so I just throw the head on, or should I clay it or what not? The guy is gonna give me the h22a4 for $450 so i'm gonna take it.. that's a lot of spare parts

No need to clay it if you are using H23 pistons still... but at 190k I would suggest a full rebuild... Replace all bearings and rings... And if you have the money maybe see if you can get some higher compression pistons...

yeah, i was gonna see if the pistons in the motor i'm getting will fit. so I can at least have around 10:1 compression. and I was more than definately gonna do rings, and is it possible to replace the bearings with the block in the car still? i'm gonna need to do this in a weekend though... cuz of work and all, maybe take one day off. Now to do a hone? do you need a special honer, or will any honer work. Sorry if these are stupid questions.

Appreciate the help though,
-Chris

yes you can do man and rod bearings while the block is in the car and deff. get some higher compression pistons because with the h22 head with the h23 pistons your compression will be like 9.3:1 which is garbage for an all motor setup.

i was going to boost it so the 9.3 is better.

but i have read on how to this many times.
i plan to build the motor and block then put it together.
