On the way to work today, I'm sitting at a stoplight not far from home.

I hear a screech of tires, brakes locking up..... look up in my rear view mirror and see a car coming at me... I pull forward as much as I can to try and avoid getting hit... I can't go any further forward because there's a person in front of me at the light. BBAMMMMM!!!

****!!!!!

Ok, so I get out and take a look at the damaage... not too bad.

The guy is like "I'm sorry, I was looking at the map....." WHAT A RETARD.

Driver was from Germany and has a passport. Doesn't understand about insurance. Alamo rental car. He wants to settle it privately. I'm like ok, but I'm still going to get all his info and a police report.

His rental company (Alamo) won't confirm whether he has insurance to me.

He didn't want to call police. I'm like "**** that" and call 911. They send an officer out to complete a report. So now I've filed claims with Alamo and my insurance (allstate). My deductible is $1k, but I'm not paying **** - that's for sure!

So now I'm 1.5 hours late to work, my neck and back are sore, and I'm going to need a new rear bumper, license plate cover, license plate (yeah it's all bent up) + who know's what else.....



I know I'm "lucky," and it could've been worse.....

But the thing is that on average, I avoid seriously bad accidents at least once a day by being vigilant and dodging retards on the road.

In this instance however, I couldn't do anything more than I did.

That's what makes me mad.

I thought german driver's were used to being on the autobahn... how could anyone hit someone at a red light?

Sorry to hear that kenny. I agree with someone above that you should get checked out just in case. It'll be the usual wasted time and they'll probably just tell you it's soreness and it should go away. The check-out is only for documentation that you had it done and pain was noted. BTW....What were you driving? I'll call ya this weekend if you'll be around.

 

I'm glad your aight Ken but that's a damn shame. Hope it all works out with insurance. Now's the time to get a EDM rear bumper...rear foglight=da' hotness!

That sucks. Happened to me in the wife's Maxima (she was driving) a couple months ago. $9500 in damage.
