Default Glasspacks + CRX... good or bad?

My exhaust is like... dead. I need a complete cat-back replacement. I just replaced my clutch and brakes on all 4 wheels, so I am amazingly sick of spending money on my car. Glasspacks instead of an OEM replacement will save me around $100.

The question is, how stupid will my car sound with glasspacks? Will I regret getting them? I have a '91 Si. Please let me know any thoughts you have on the matter. My exhaust is currently completely broken off and I think it sounds kind of cool

Eli

NEVER get a OEm if you want good flow...if you don't want a glasspack just get a universal exaust like Dynomax...avialble at most muffler shops

No man. Your car will sound like a broken vaccuum cleaner. If you can, get a hold of a Summit catalog, but the domestic edition, they have a pretty wide selection of mufflers for under $100. I bought a Dynomax muffler for my old 88 DX sedan for about $35 shipped and paid $50 to get it installed. Sounded OK, not great, but not as bad as you'd think, either.

Glasspacks/resonators actually reduce noise. I cut out my cat kept the dynomax muffler and increased the pipe dia. Put a small resonator in it and it was hella loud. Hurt my ears. Then put a second large resonator and it quieted down quite nicely. Since removing the cat have had a little increase in power. If I had to do it again I would of left the cat and just got a cat-back exhaust. Oh well live and learn...

That magnaflow muffler looks pretty cool. They want to charge me $300 for a catback OEM replacement, and anywhere from $200-250 for glasspacks. My crap is so rusted out right now there's just about nothing they can salvage. How much do those magnaflow's usually run?

Glasspacks + Honda = GHETTO!! Listen to people on the board get a cheap little universal muffler from a parts store or from summit or whereever, and go to a muffler shop and you can get cat-back bent, or just axle back bent if you don't have the extra cash. Muffler + Full custom bent catback bent should cost about $170, or probably $130 for axle back set up. Every little high school kid puts glasspacks on, just stupid!

HEY!!! I've got a 96 prelude silencer, no cat, and a thrush glasspack exiting on the passenger side of the car and I think it sounds damn good. It's a very low pitch in comparison to what you would think it would be. If you wanna talk weedwacker, my freind has a focuz cat back. Maybe you guys should try it out before you slam it! At the road races that's what everyone is using, and yes they sound like weed wackers on the VTEC engines, but fine for CRX. I will give you it's ghetto, but hey it'll get you buy until you can do something better. Minus borla tips off my old car, it cost me a total of $7.98. Beat that!!!!
