Default So I blew another single cam...

Well I blew the single cam in my beeter on the way to work and now I am wondering what i should do. I already have another car that I am doing a K swap in so I am not really interested in spending much money on this car.

I blew a rod out of the #4 cylinder and I have not taken the head off yet to see if it is still good. I am thinking that I may just try and find another D16y7 block since it will be the easiest and probly cheapest. Is there anything else I can do that may be just as cheap or cheaper and not much more complicated? I am going to do the block swap myself if the head is still good. everything on the motor sensors, pumps, etc should still be good so I think it is really just a mtter of finding a nice clean cheap D series block to switch everything over to.

any comments or idea's? anybody got a clean D series block or swap that they want to get rid of cheap?

Cliff notes: blew D16y7 in 99 hatch beater. lookin to get it running agian for a low price and will be doing all the work myself. Lookin for the cheapest most reliable way to get her going again, I just need her for driving back and forth to work...

I live in So-Cal

You should have put that in your title so locals with D's lying around could have seen it. Maybe PM a mod and see if they can change that for ya. I have a D-series piled in my buddy's garage, but you don't live in Central Ohio, so I can't help ya .

what other blocks would bolt directly to my Y7 head, and work with my harness, etc...

and which other complete swaps would be a direct bolt in affair? I am talking non-Vtec single cams. Something i can bolt right in with minimal changes?

I have a d15B2 and a D16A6 sitting here. Free to pick up But they both need rebuilds.

rebuild? new rings or what?

and would both of these bolt directly in no modifications to the harness or anything?
and which chassis do these come out of.

I am trying to keep in under 500-600 installed and running. all the little bolts, wires, brackets, cables, etc. hopefully though since it is still a single cam I can use most of the stuff off of my other motor. I wouldn't mind a Y8 but I really don't need the extra power and don't really want to spend the extra money and time...
I would ahve to install all the Vtec stuff which would take a little longer wouldn't it?

i have another car which I am spenmding most of my money on right now dropping in a K24a2 and that will be my fast car. I just need to get this thing running gain so I can keep making that money...

Sorry for asking so many question but I have not done much with the D series motors...

There is the JDM NON VTEC ZC found on the 96^ Integras
120ps
They're comparable to the D16Y7 but come with the Y8 VTEC type INTAKE MANIFOLD
I get these for 450+tax complete engine only.

Then maybe you should be visiting this forum:

https://honda-tech.com/zeroforum?id=10

Which is the Classifieds section. You're leaning more toward just finding another block, look under the Classifieds or hit up your local junkyards.

just incase you guys can't read, which seems to be the case, here is a post about half way up the page...

I am trying to find out what is and is not compatible with my Y7 parts so you can stop telling me to start a thread in the classifieds.

But thanks for teh bump... and notice how much more of a responce I have gotten in this thread than the other...

I really need a middle finger Icon...

What is needed to do a Y8 swap? Is there wiring changes involved? I would have to run the Y8 harness and ECU correct? Would it plug right in to my interior harness?

why are single cams so hard to find...

I would so much rather go with the Y8 or the Y7 than the D15b...
