Default broken driver's side door, need help

i tried to open my door one day after returning home from work and when i pulled the inside latch, it made a snapping noise and let free. i tried locking it and unlocking it and it never worked. i went outside and tried the outdoor latch and it doesn't work as well. when i put in the key and turned it, i tried opening the outside latch and it feels like it is grinding up against something but won't catch. i have examined the inside of the door a little bit, but from what i could see was all of the rods were pulling as usual, just like those of the passenger side door. i am pretty sure that the door latch in the inside of the door is broken. i don't know how to fix it. please help...!

btw it's a 95 lude

that will be very hard to do without breaking it. even after getting that off will be a challenge. i have taken off my other panel and looked the mechanics of the door. if it is the latch that is broken then that will be another round of problems because it is inside of the door even farther unreachable, unless of course there is some trick, and thats why i'm seeking help.

yea it appears that a sledge hammer and a new door will do the trick. i think that might work. that looks to be my only option. the honda dealer wants to charge me $500 to fix it so...

Take off the inside door panel to access the handle their should be 2 bolts holding it to the door skin. Then go to a junkyard or buy replacement parts online.

I think he might have a hard time getting the inside panel off with the door shut. also I had a lude that I pryed off the door its not as easy as you would think and you will destroy the rest of the car.the latch is very strong. if you arm going to pry the door off i would just cut the out side of the door skin by the latch find the problem fix it then fix the door skin.

yea, it is not that easy to get it off. the door panels do conform to the dash and are screwed in at places you cannot reach with the door being shut. i've tryed it already but i didn't want to break anything so i stopped.
