How do you have your front plate/tag mounted? Look at what I found.
After seeing this... I wonder how the cops would react in the states. The guy who did this said that the cops don't bother him.
That's because in the "states" you have to display the actual plate (along with the appropriate stickers) and not just the number.

Front license plates are all relative to the laws governing your state. Two very good examples: Washington State, you need to have the original front plate mounted on the front of the automobile. Arizona, there is no such requirement and no need for a front plate.
You will have to research the Revised Codes under your State Legislator. It can usually be found under 'Transportation' or 'Automobile' or 'Horseless Carrage'.

I had my front plate off for 2 days and a cop in some hick town pulled me over and gave me a ticket for it. What makes me mad about it, I took it off to clean under it and I had the plate in the car with me.

This is debatable. I've seen it work and seen tickets because of it. It depends on how the cop has interpreted the law. For example:
RCW (Revised Code Washington): Title 46: Motor Vehicles: RCW 46.16.230
License plates furnished:
"The director shall furnish to all persons making satisfactory application for vehicle license as provided by law, two identical vehicle license number plates each containing the vehicle license number to be displayed on such vehicle as by law required..."
And RCW (Revised Code Washington): Title 46 Motor Vehicles: RCW 46.16.240
Attachment of plates to vehicles -- Violations enumerated.
"The vehicle license number plates shall be attached conspicuously at the front and rear of each vehicle for which the same are issued and in such a manner that they can be plainly seen and read at all times: PROVIDED, That if only one license number plate is legally issued for any vehicle such plate shall be conspicuously attached to the rear of such vehicle. Each vehicle license number plate shall be placed or hung in a horizontal position at a distance of not less than one foot nor more than four feet from the ground and shall be kept clean so as to be plainly seen and read at all times: PROVIDED, HOWEVER, That in cases where the body construction of the vehicle is such that compliance with this section is impossible, permission to deviate therefrom may be granted by the state patrol. It shall be unlawful to display upon the front or rear of any vehicle, vehicle license number plate or plates other than those furnished by the director for such vehicle or to display upon any vehicle any vehicle license number plate or plates which have been in any manner changed, altered, disfigured or have become illegible. License plate frames may be used on vehicle license number plates only if the frames do not obscure license tabs or identifying letters or numbers on the plates and the plates can be plainly seen and read at all times. It is unlawful to use any holders, frames, or any materials that in any manner change, alter, or make the vehicle license number plates illegible. It shall be unlawful for any person to operate any vehicle unless there shall be displayed thereon valid vehicle license number plates attached as herein provided."
So in Washington, the picture that Bbasso provided would be a big no-no along with puting the plate inside the car agaist the windshield. Though, if one was to take the car down to the Washington State Patrol for inspection and with a legitame excuse to not have a plate, they can have that granted if the inspector deems fit.
The only problem with that (because I know the ways of the police officers in Washington State all too well) even if one had proper paperwork that says a front plate was found not needed by a WSP inspector, this still will not stop you from getting pulled over because you still would then have to have that document to prove to the cop pulling you over that is infact, legal.
One more retarded loop-hole in the Washington State laws. Another way for all the little lambs to submit under the corrupt powers of the State.

Werd. I haven't used front plates on any of my cars for the past twenty years, and I've never gotten a ticket (even though it's required by law in Illinois).
In fact, nowadays more and more cars are just leaving it off. It used to be just the high-end sports cars like Corvettes and Porsches, but lately I've been seeing slugs like Camrys and minivans without front plates even though they've got Illinois plates in the rear.

i ran around w/o a front plate here in va for a good 7 months but then i got pulled 3 times in the same area within 2 weeks and decided i had better put it on before i started to rack of assloads of tickets, looks stupid but now at least cops dont have a reason to pull me over.
i find ca. ineresting. on my integra i can't get away with anything. on my way home from dmv, after i got my new plates i got a ticket for not having front plates, even after i explained to the cop i just got the plates from dmv and i needed to drill extra holes for it to fit on my front bumper (jdm front).while [knock on wood] n the m3, i can almost get away with murder. that thing has no front plates, windows tinted all around, and to top it off, one day i was doing about 80 on hwy 5 and a cop just went next to me signal me to slow down then passed me by. i was thinking if i would have been in the teg, i would probably get thrown in jail or something.
ohh and one day i decided to be an idiot and mashed the trottle on my chevelle, well there was a cop in the parking lot. when i pulled in the spot, he pulled up told me to not do it again, then asked me if i had a big block.
ohh and on the teg, it mounted in the stock location.

<= No front plate for the past 5 years (on 4 different cars) and I've only been asked about it once (on my integra) and given a friendly "warning"

i just don't bother with the trouble and put my front license plate on. the license plate being wedged in between the window and dash will still get you pulled over in wa. many times a ticket, but warnings are given. however, i'd rather just not get pulled over from the beginning.
Wouldn't putting one in your windshield just draw attention to the fact its not mounted on the front bumper?
A friend of mine, and his family, used to not have the front plates on. They all got pulled over for it. They have an S2k, RX300, and a GSR all got pulled over for not having a plate.
My sister got pulled over for not having one either on her 95 LS.
I have the front plate on my CRX but not my R it looks alot better without it.
