Accord emitions elemination??
-I have recently found a decent amound oil residue inside my stock air intake tubing immediately before the throttle body. (due to my accidental overfilling the oil briefly)
-I believe that this has gunked up both my IAC and FIAC valves as well as TB and intake manifold
-So, I must ask, what is the point of the oil vapor tube that exits the valve cover and enters the intake prior to the TB?? If it is not required I would like to eliminate (plug) it or at least run the tube to an oil catch so it doesn't grud up my intake again.
-it seems that it does the same thing as the PCV valve hose that runs into the intake manifold, so will eliminating this hose cause any problems?
BTW Im not thinking this will increase performance or anything of that sort. I have already cleaned the valves that it gunked up and I dont ever want to do it again.
Its a 94 lx with 140K
thanks, sohc

it stabilizes the pressure inside your valve cover with outside air pressure,, so u dont have either higher or lower pressure built up inside...if u plug it up, u might encounter some problems down the road, since the pressure cant go anywere anymore, and it will eventually find its way either through your valve cover gasket, or head itself....if u feel like messing with the hole, just get a breather from pep boys or something, or just leave it alone
Ya plugging it is out, its actually an intake for air into the crankcase which is then blown through the pcv valve and into the intake manifold. I guess by circulating clean air through the engine it burns the oily vapors as the engine runs and reduced hydrocarbon emissions...
who woulda thought?
Ya, Im just going to get a breather or make one...

The PCV system also improves oil life and reduces sludge buildup.
